During our recent Secret Santa Giveaway, we received an entry that really touched us. Krisandra from West Alexandria made a Christmas wish for her mother, and we immediately took notice.
Krisandra told us, “What I need is not for me. What I need is for an amazing woman who has taken care of everyone around her, her entire life. She has buried her entire family except for a daughter and 2 grandchildren. She has fought cancer 2 times and won, although the last time 2 years ago has left her unable to work. She along with her husband (who passed away Christmas day 2005) ran an automotive business in a poverty stricken community and took payments from so many people who otherwise couldn’t get their car fixed.
Now she is in need. Her furnace isn’t working so she can’t stay at her home until we come up with the funds to fix or replace it. We have paid hundreds of dollars to people who say they can fix it and have not. I am her daughter, but, due to starting in nursing school full time in April and cutting my work hours in order to do this, I am unable to help anymore at this time. I would love for her just to have the luxury of heat at her own home. Christmas is hard enough on our family, and I feel horrible that I have been unable to help her. There just aren’t enough hours in the week to work anymore. Thank you for your consideration!”
We quickly reached out to Krisandra to tell her that Logan Services wanted nothing more than to grant her wish and help get her mother, Helen, back into her home to start the new year off right. Krisandra was so appreciative, and she reiterated how deserving this amazing woman was of a break like this.
When we showed up on December 27th to install her new heating system, we also learned that her water heater would need replaced to accommodate the furnace. Our installation team stepped up and replaced that water heater as well – free of charge!
With the help of her daughter, Helen plans to move back into her home this weekend! It was such a joy to meet this wonderful family and grant this wish to bring Helen back into her home for the holidays.
Happy New Year from all of us at Logan Services!
