The Intelli-HEAT coil is a revolutionary new technology from Mitsubishi Electric that is set to transform home Heating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. It represents a clever integration of heat pump technology with traditional gas or propane furnaces to create a dual-fuel hybrid heating solution. At the heart of Intelli-HEAT is an exterior heat pump that takes the place of your existing outdoor AC unit. These heat pump systems are paired with an interior heating coil that gets installed within your current gas or propane furnace.
Together, these components create a system that can intelligently select between electric and gas heating to maximize efficiency. The heat pump handles heating needs on milder winter days with temperatures above approximately 30°F. Its variable speed inverter compressor provides very effective electric heat pump function even in cold weather. But on frigid winter days below the 30°F range, the system will automatically switch over to the gas furnace for heating. This dual-fuel approach takes advantage of the strengths of both technologies. The end result is a system that provides superior comfort, savings, and energy efficiency versus traditional HVAC setups.
The Intelli-HEAT system leverages a collaboration between Mitsubishi Electric and Trane to bring together the latest in heat pump technology and gas heating. It starts with an exterior heat pump unit replacing your outdoor AC condenser. This hyper-efficient Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heat pump can extract heat from the external air even in very cold conditions thanks to its inverter-driven compressor. It routes refrigerant to the integrated interior coil installed atop your existing gas furnace.
This interior coil circulates refrigerant to absorb heat from the gas burner inside the furnace. A sophisticated control board governs the entire system and determines whether to use the heat pump or gas furnace for heating based on outdoor conditions. This allows the system to optimize efficiency. The heat pump handles warmer winter days, using electricity to gently warm your home. When temps drop below 30°F, the gas furnace kicks in to deliver heating the efficient way it always has. This hybrid heating approach keeps your home cozy all winter while maximizing savings.
The launch of Mitsubishi Electric’s revolutionary Intelli-HEAT system will provide homeowners with an exciting new option for upgrading their HVAC systems. Taking full advantage of this technology requires proper installation by qualified professionals.
The process begins by replacing your outdoor AC condenser with a state-of-the-art Mitsubishi Electric hyper-heating heat pump. Specially trained technicians will size and install the new variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat pump optimized for your home’s specifications. Refrigerant lines are then routed into the house and connected to the proprietary Intelli-HEAT coil positioned atop your existing gas furnace.
This indoor coil is designed for quick and easy integration with your furnace without the need for extensive modifications. Technicians simply mount the coil, connect refrigerant lines, and make any minor adjustments to ensure seamless communication between the furnace, coil, and outdoor heat pump. Control boards are configured to enable hybrid electric and gas heating capabilities.
Once installed, the Intelli-HEAT system affords superior efficiency, comfort and savings versus traditional HVAC setups. Upgrading to this technology is a big step toward enhancing your home’s energy performance. “The crew from Logan Services, that came to the house was very professional and informative. Did a great job and was very careful to clean up and show us how to use the new system.”
“Love the new heat pump. The guys that came to install were very prompt on time and cleaning up. They even ask if they could stay late to finish the job so they didn’t have to bug us the next day. Bring on the winter and the heat, we have it taken care of now!! Thanks from the Maxon family!!”
“Travis and his partner just finished replacing our 15-year-old HVAC system with a new Trane system. They were on time this morning — calling and texting in advance. They were efficient and neat as a pin in doing their work. Travis helped me set up the networked thermostat on my tablet and reconfigured humidity control to work from the thermostat instead of the old humidistat in the plenum. It is a really nice system and we are looking forward to many years of service from it.”
“We had our new furnace and heat pump installed yesterday. The installers, Doug and Ben did a great job and answered all of our questions! We are excited about the new system and the savings we will see! Thank you Logan Services for making this an easy process from the estimate with Pete, to the installation!”
“Very pleased with the professionalism of this company. Aaron the sales rep starting by asking our needs and evaluating answers to determine the right unit for us. No pressure to buy and in comparison Trane is a top brand. For the slight difference in price it was a no-brainer. Bobby the tech and his helper did a wonderful job installing. Bobby went over every aspect of each unit and the controller. Being one of the coldest mornings this year I can say without a doubt, I love having a good heating system. Thank you Logan!”
