Kenyon D., an HVAC service technician with Logan Services didn’t know if a trade was the right career choice for him but he jumped right in and is enjoying his career change. We took a deep dive with Kenyon and asked him questions about his career change and why he chose Logan Services to start over. Read Kenyon’s story below.

Q: What were you doing before making a career change?

A: I was in college to be an engineer and working a part time job at Lowe’s.

Q: What were your top 3 fears of making a career change?

A: My top 3 fears were that I didn’t know if I really wanted to do a trade and had no idea what I was getting into. I feared I wouldn’t be making the money I would have being an engineer. Lastly, if this doesn’t work then I didn’t know what would be next for me.

Q: What steps did you take to overcome that fear?

A: The steps I took to overcome those fears was I just jumped into HVAC school and didn’t look back. I told myself I would have to be all in. I kept positive people around me and never quit researching to learn more about HVAC.

Q: How has the decision to start a career in HVAC impacted your life?

A: When I got out of school I didn’t know what I wanted to do, I just knew I had to do something. I wondered what can I do, be good at it and make a lot of money doing it. Until I found out about HVAC, I was trying everything that came to mind, none of it worked. HVAC impacted my life by giving me a skill I will always have. I found something I love doing and I see myself doing until I retire.

Q: What do you love most about your HVAC career?

A: What I love most is being able to move around and not be in one place. I love going out to a system that’s not working correctly, fixing the issue and make someone’s day better knowing they are going to have working heating and cooling. The fact that I’m always learning something new is something I love as well.

Q: What do you love most about Logan Services?

A: What I love most about Logan Services is we are like family. Everyone I work with is very nice and helpful. Our team is what I love the most.

Q: What words of advice can you give someone considering a career change?

A: I would tell that person to just do it. I’m a big believer in going all out for anything, don’t give up unless you put everything into that career and it still isn’t working for you. I would tell this person to try a trade and it may be what they end up loving.
