Happy International Women's Day - Women In HVAC
The month of March is Women's History Month, and today is International Women's Day; to celebrate, we will be starting a blog series to highlight the strong women we have working within our organization.
The Logan Services team wants to take some time and recognize the women who work on our team. HVAC is a male-dominated industry, but many powerful and knowledgeable women are working at Logan Services to make sure things are running smoothly.
The first woman we would like to feature is Erin H., the Logistics Manager at Logan Services.
Erin started her career in the HVAC industry in 2012 as a lead dispatcher for a heating and cooling company in Florida. After moving to the Dayton area, she joined the Logan Services team in 2015 as a Customer Service Representative. Her drive, commitment to excellence, and hard work ethic earned her the promotion to Logistics Manager in 2016.
Leading our Logistics team at Logan Services, Erin's key responsibilities include managing warehouse operations at our three offices in Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati. Read more below about Erin, her essential role with Logan Services, and what she has to say about working in the HVAC industry...
Q: What Does Your Job In Logistics Include?
A: Maintaining proper warehouse stocking levels in all markets, organizing all bulk purchasing, receiving, and ordering, submitting warranties on all service parts, and fleet management. I oversee a team of six people and travel between the three branches to keep departmental goals on schedule and maximize efficiencies and profitability.
Q: What Do You Like About The HVAC Industry?
A: When I started as a dispatcher, I quickly realized that I enjoyed the problem-solving that comes with the role. Finding a solution to a problem is something that I take pride in.
Q: What Do You Like About Working At Logan Services?
A: Logan Services is a company with a vision of growth. They take bold steps to be the leader in residential HVAC. I could tell that there was an opportunity for growth with this company due to their ambitious goals. The pace at Logan Services make sure that I am always busy and working on something new. The constant drive towards progress keeps me engaged and makes sure work is never boring. There is also a great work-life balance at Logan Services. I enjoy family trips to the lake in my spare time, biking, hiking, and getting outdoors with my family and friends.
Q: How Do You Help Customers Even Though You Are Not Face-To-Face With Them?
A: My team and I play a key part in making sure everything the technicians and installers need to do their job is on hand and ready when they need it. This means that our customers get their heating and cooling problem resolved faster, and they are back to being comfortable in their homes.
Q: How Do You Navigate Being A Woman In This Male-Dominated Industry?
A: As I mentioned before, Logan Services really set me up for success within the company. With women in many of the leadership roles, the culture they have developed allows the team to succeed based on their contributions and not their gender. Looking at the industry as a whole, you have to be confident and willing to learn.
Q: What Advice Do You Have For Any Women Coming Into The HVAC Industry?
A: Don't be intimidated if you don't know a lot about the industry. Many people come in and don't know the difference between a heat pump and an A/C. If you put in the effort to learn from the people around you and cross-train in other areas, you can gain a lot of knowledge quickly and increase the value you can bring to an organization.
Thank you, Erin, for everything that you do to make Logan Services a great company to choose for HVAC services, as well as a great place to work!
