If you lose power to your heating and cooling system, the last thing you want to worry about is whether or not the thermostat will keep the correct settings when the power returns. If you have Traneโs 624 thermostat and it loses power, the thermostat will revert to default factory settings. This is not a problem if the heating and cooling system in your home is a traditional air conditioner and gas furnace. However, if you have a heat pump system, the settings will not be correct.
Our experts can help show you how toย easily reset your thermostat to the correct settings. Watch the video below for a tutorial and read our simpleย step-by-step guideย and you will have your system back up and running like normal in no time.
Step One: Go To โInstaller Settingโ
Starting from the main screen of the thermostat, press the โMenuโ button. Then press the โNextโ button until the top of the screen says โServiceโ. Once the screen says โService,โ hold down the โSelectโ button until you reach the โInstaller Settingโ screen.
Step Two: Set The Outdoor Unit Type
From the โInstaller Settingโ screen, press the โSelectโ button. The screen should say โEquipment Typeโ. Press โSelectโ again. The screen should say โOutdoor Unit Type.โ Now you will press the โSelectโ button in order to choose what type of unit you have. When your thermostat resets, the default is for the unit type to be an air conditioner (shown as โACโ). Use the arrows on the side of the screen to switch the unit type to heat pump (shown as โHPโ). Press โDoneโ, then press โNext.โ
Step Three: Set The Outdoor Unit Stages
The screen should now say โOutdoor Unit Stages.โ You will need to know whether you have a single or two-stage outdoor unit. Typically, our team at Logan Services installs two-stage equipment. However, some people still choose to have single-stage equipment installed in their homes. With this information in mind, press the โSelectโ button. Then press the arrows to select โ1 Stageโ or โ2 Stageโ depending on which applies to your unit. Press โDoneโ once you have it set to the correct number of stages, then press โNext.โ
Step Four: Set the Indoor Unit Type
The screen should now say โIndoor Unit Type.โ The default for this setting is โGas/Oilโ. If you have a dual fuel system with a gas furnace, this setting can be left alone. However, the majority of heat pumps are paired with an electric air handler. If this is the case, press โSelect.โ Then press the up arrow to find the โElectricโ setting. Once you have chosen the correct setting, press โDone,โ then press โNext.โ
Step Five: Check That The Other Settings Are Correct
For the next few screens, the default setting should already be correct. The screen should now say โIndoor Heat Stages.โ This should stay as โ1 Stage.โ Once you have made sure that it is correct, press โNext.โ Keep the โIndoor Blower Typeโ as โ(Non-Variable)โ, then press โNext.โ Finally, make sure that the โEnergizing Reversing Valveโ says โ(With Cool)โ. Then press โNext.โ
Step Six: Return To The Main Screen
You should now see yourself back at the first step. From here, press the โDoneโ button until you reach the main screen. Your system should be ready to go.
