Why Should You Get an HVAC Inspection?

Your average A/C system or furnace has a typical lifespan of between 10-15 years. As your system gets closer to that age, you might start noticing different issues which may have you considering replacing your old system to avoid the hassle and headache that comes with unexpected system breakdowns.

Issues you may experience include:

  • Increased frequency of repairs
  • More costly or extensive repairs
  • Decrease in heating or cooling efficiency
  • Increase in utility bills

Logan Services A/C, Heat & Plumbing’ *free home HVAC inspection can give you peace of mind and a way forward by providing you with the information you need to make an informed decision on whether you should repair or replace your existing HVAC system. Our consultants will never recommend system replacement if it’s not necessary.

*This program qualifies for homeowners with systems over 10 years old and out of warranty.

If you have an HVAC system that is under 10 years old and still want a diagnosis of current or potential issues, please send us a request for service and one of our technicians will come assess your system and advise you on repair or replacement options.

Comprehensive 15 Point Inspection

Our inspection of your home’s air conditioner/furnace includes a comprehensive, 15 point checklist to make sure all of the important factors affecting your home comfort are covered, including:

1

Comfort Concerns

Do you have concerns about system reliability? High utility bills? Hot or cold spots? Noise, dust, or breathing issues? Our experts have helped customers learn more about possible solutions to these common problems.

2

Air Flow Testing

This will tell us how well the system is pushing air to the different areas of your home. By testing the CFMs (cubic feet per minute), we can identify and focus on problem areas and provide recommendations to improve airflow if applicable.

3

Static Pressure Tests

Static pressure, measured in PSI (pounds per square inch), tells us how well your system circulates air throughout the ductwork. By testing the static pressure across the indoor coil and filter, we’ll be able to identify whether your system is working too hard or not enough.

4

Temperature Split on A/C Mode

This will tell us the difference between the air temperature as it enters the evaporator coil and the air temperature as it leaves the evaporator coil, which helps diagnosis airflow or capacity issues with your unit in COOLING mode.

5

Temperature Split on Heating Mode

This will tell us the difference between the air temperature as it enters the evaporator coil and the air temperature as it leaves the evaporator coil, which helps diagnosis airflow or capacity issues with your unit in HEATING mode.

6

Load Calculation For Equipment Sizing

Get a complimentary load calculation for home to ensure the HVAC equipment is sized properly for your space and application.

7

Overall Duct & Return Duct Sizing

By inspecting your ductwork and return air duct sizing, our HVAC inspector will be able to determine whether your ductwork is properly sized for your current HVAC system and your home.

8

Refrigerant Type

Do you know what type of refrigerant your HVAC system uses? Learn about the current status and availability of your refrigerant (R22, R32, 410A, 454B) so that you are best prepared for future changes in pricing and repairs if a fill up or system replacement is needed.

9

Efficiency Levels

What are the efficiency levels of your current system? How does that compare to the SEER2 and AFUE ratings that are currently available in new equipment offered today? Learn how the technology of your current HVAC equipment stacks up to the new technologies and advancements of furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps and air handlers rolling off the assembly line this year, especially when it comes to your system's efficiency. Enjoy a complimentary comparison and get educated about your potential HVAC equipment upgrade options in the future and be better prepared for replacement when the time comes.

10

Carbon Monoxide Evaluation

Ensure that your furnace is operating without producing an unsafe level of carbon monoxide (CO) near your furnace. If your furnace does produce a high level of CO, it could be due to a system malfunction, such as a cracked heat exchanger. We always recommend that you have a CO detector on every level of your home to alert you in the unfortunate event of a CO leak.

11

Breaker Sizes

When inspecting your breakers, we will check to make sure that your breaker is the adequate size for the HVAC unit that you have; if it’s too small, it could be a safety concern that you’ll want to resolve quickly.

12

Drainage System Inspection

When inspecting your drainage system, we’ll check for blockages or leaks in your drain line. If that drain line for your coil or furnace is clogged, it could back up, flood, and even shut the system off entirely, leaving you without heating/cooling in the home.

13

Visual Inspection of Equipment

Some visible signs of age, such as rust or condensation, can alert you to moisture issues or a leak in the system. If rust is on furnace, you may have leak in the coil. While your furnace may be operating fine now, a leak could eventually result in a breakdown if not repaired.

14

Suction Line Temperature Check

By checking the suction line temperature at your air conditioner or heat pump, we can quickly identify whether a refrigerant leak may be present. Early warning may save you money by recovering any refrigerant leaking out your system, as well as prevent damage caused by refrigerant depletion.

15

Vent Cleanliness

Our HVAC inspector will check inside your vents to help determine the cleanliness of the ductwork and air throughout your home. They may recommend some routine maintenance tips that you can DIY to help keep the system clean, as well as some more advanced solutions for cleaning and purifying the system by a service technician in the future.
