Three-Phase Plumbing Apprenticeship Program

The apprenticeship is divided into three structured phases, each building on the last to ensure apprentices gain technical expertise, communication skills, and confidence at every stage of their development.

Phase 1: Plumbing 101 and Communication Skills

This phase is considered the new hire phase, during which apprentices begin with Plumbing 101 and learn company processes. During this stage, a 45-day review determines if the new hire is a good fit for the apprenticeship program’s more advanced phases.

Timeline: 6–8 weeks

Focus Areas:

  • Plumbing 101 fundamentals
  • Basic customer communication skills
  • Learning Logan Services’ processes

Phase 2: Maintenance Plumber Training

This phase transitions apprentices from plumbing assistants to Maintenance Plumbers. Apprentices receive one dedicated in-class training day each week, are paired with a Lead Plumber in the field, and complete regular evaluations to test their knowledge and skills. This stage emphasizes independence while still providing mentorship support.

Timeline: 4–5 months

Training Includes:

  • Internal Sales Process
  • Job Visualization
  • Plumbing Code
  • Maintenance, Diagnostic, Repair, and Installation for tanked and tankless water heaters, whole-home plumbing, sump pumps, and water quality systems

Phase 3: Advanced Plumbing Projects

This phase advances apprentices from Maintenance Plumbers to Lead Plumbers. It includes advanced training sessions, field evaluations, and skills advancement to prepare apprentices for leadership responsibilities.

Timeline: 4–6 months

Training Includes:

  • Leak detection, resolution, and safety for water, gas, and sewer systems
  • Whole-home re-piping for water, gas, and sewer
  • Backflow and well systems
  • Potential excavation work
