The team at Logan Services was excitedly preparing to launch our A/C Giveaway for the 9th year in a row when severe weather struck our region. The goal of the giveaway is to provide our winner with a free Trane air conditioner, complete with installation. With the communities we call home so devastated by the tornadoes, we saw our giveaway as an opportunity to help those who were affected, or even those who were too busy helping others in the aftermath to work on their own homes. We received hundreds of entries, and now we’re excited to announce a very special winner…
Congratulations to DeCarra Mackey for being chosen as our recipient of a brand new air conditioner!
DeCarra is a single mom of two boys. Her home in Trotwood was damaged by the Memorial Day tornadoes and although their home was habitable, they were without power for nearly two weeks. When she and her boys returned home they found that their air conditioner had been damaged and was no longer working. With the rest of the work that needed done around the house, it was hard to imagine affording the repairs or even replacement of the old air conditioner.
In her entry, DeCarra said, “I am putting in the best effort I can to make things right again for me and my children. Having an AC unit would be amazing and would help me and my babies so much. Being a mom and trying to give my boys a new sense of normalcy is important to me. We have been through so many obstacles this year.”
When our comfort consultant went out to learn the details of the project, he found that DeCarra’s old furnace would not be compatible with the new air conditioner. Phone calls were made to our partners at Trane, and they told us that they wanted to help. DeCarra would receive both a furnace and air conditioner at no cost! When we called her to give her the news, she was beyond grateful. Her home would be comfortable all year long with a full heating and cooling system, and life could begin to feel more like normal again.
