The History of Logan Services

Table of Contents

Although you may have used Logan A/C & Heat Services for your heating and cooling needs in the past, you may not know how this small business got its start.

Read on to see how Logan Services has grown over the years.

A New Company Is Born

The Logan family has always pursued products, goods, and services related to heating and cooling. Having been a young man watching and learning from his father, the founder of Logan A/C & Heat Services grew up knowing basic home appliances as well as heating and cooling units. This led to his interest in starting his own company in 1969. Since then, the Logans have spent a great deal of time helping customers throughout the Miami Valley achieve greater home comfort.

Quality Heating and Cooling Equipment

The team at Logan Services found it important to offer quality, reliable, and durable products. After great research, Trane was chosen as the premiere brand offered by Logan Services.

The Digital Age Arrives

The Logans had always had a keen sense of futuristic customer trends and believed in the digital age at its conception. In 1996 a star was born – our website. No longer would you have to search the streets of Dayton, Ohio or the Yellow Pages for a heating and air conditioning company, but you could now find the answers you were looking for here on the Logan A/C & Heat Services website.

New Ownership

In an effort to really see this small business grow, around 2002 the Logan family decided to sell the company to current-day owner Jim Meyer. Jim Meyer’s background stemmed from working at Emerson Climate Technologies, so although he was new to owning and operating a small business, the heating and cooling industry still felt like home. He had a desire to not only maintain, but to grow a business, and a passion to always pursue new opportunities.

Expanding Into More Markets

Things were really rolling with Jim, his family, and the rest of his team involved. Between 2005 and 2006, Logan Services was encouraged to expand into additional service areas by several business partners, including Trane and big box home improvement retailers. Logan Services began to provide service to homeowners in Columbus in 2006, and continued their fast growth into Cincinnati by the end of 2007.

New Opportunities

Now covering three major US markets, Logan A/C & Heat Services was faced with many opportunities that included expanding employee departments into human resourcesmarketing, and logistics in order to continue to provide exceptional customer service. The team grew from a group of less than 20 employees to more than 100 within a span of less than five years.

Marketing erupted and you were able to see Logan Services in the newspaper and at local community events (including the Cincinnati Reds Opening Day Parade), listen to us on the radio, and see us on television. Starting in 2008, you may have even seen the Logan Services spokesperson, Amanda Kinsella, on commercials during a newsbreak or sporting event.

Logan Services also wanted to continue to provide customers with the best options for heating and cooling. The team brought on new manufacturing partners, Rheem and Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating, as quality choices to benefit customers’ needs and desires.

An Award-Winning Team

The company grew, and once this new, larger team became synergized, its work became noticeable. With such immense growth between 2006 and 2007, Logan A/C & Heat Services was the recipient of the Trane SOAR Award in 2008. This honor is not easy to achieve, but the team succeeded in earning this esteemed achievement again in both 2016 and 2018.

In 2014, Logan A/C & Heat Services was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in America (#4212).

Logan A/C & Heat Services is a six-time CBUS Top Picks Winner in Columbus, winning for the Best Heating and Air Conditioning category since the award’s inaugural year of 2016.

The team has also been voted the Best of Dayton through Dayton Magazine three years running.

The newest achievement for Logan Services is earning the title of the Best of the North in Cincinnati in 2018.

A Commitment To Lifelong Learning

By 2017, Logan A/C & Heat Services was boasting a team of more than 150 employees. In order to keep its employees working at their best, committed to excellence, and living the company values, the team decided to build a training center. This training center would keep employees’ learning skills fresh and help to continue outstanding customer service. Now learning sessions are held on a routine basis, while guest speakers are scheduled to visit in order to inspire the team.

Where Is Logan Services Now?

With 50 years of business and still going strong, Jim’s vision for the future is to keep that same passion and desire that started this company and to continue it. Logan A/C & Heat Services began as a family-owned and operated company and still runs as one today. Jim Meyer’s family is now involved in the everyday operations of the business. This includes his daughters Ashley Pleiman, Vice President of HR, Finance, and Logistics, and Sandy Heckman, Vice President of Administration and Strategic Accounts, as well as his son Jason Meyer, the Sales Manager. Jim’s family and the rest of the Logan team are led by the company President, Kevin Purcell.

What’s Next For Logan Services?

There are many plans in the works to continue the team’s level of care and commitment to small business growth. These plans include you, our customers, as the focus of our future. The team is excited for what the future holds, and looks forward to celebrating another 50 years of helping the homeowners who have helped this small business achieve big things.
