Helping After The Memorial Day Tornadoes

Table of Contents

In the aftermath of the tornadoes that devastated areas of the Miami Valley, many members of the impacted communities, including at least two of our team members here at Logan Services, have been volunteering their time to help clean up, delivering supplies to those affected, and spreading the word about how others can help their communities in this time of need.

The Impact On Logan Services

When a tornado hit less than a mile from the Dayton office of Logan A/C & Heat Services, although the building was unharmed, the team was left with system outages. Team members worked hard to find creative ways to contact customers in order to continue providing the best service possible. This included running computers off of cell phone hot spots and using personal phones to make calls.

With the systems back up and running like normal this week, the team is ready to take your call and schedule service and estimates for those with heating and cooling needs.

Team Members Going Above And Beyond

Logan Services’ team members Matt and Sabrina have been going above and beyond when it comes to helping out the communities affected by the tornadoes.

This past weekend, Matt helped lead a group of more than 500 Northridge High School alumni in a cleanup effort in Harrison Township. He plans to hold more events in the future such as this. Matt has also helped the team to deliver boxes and bags to groups who need them, while also partnering with our spokesperson Amanda to spread the word on social media about other ways that people can do their part to help

Meanwhile, Sabrina has joined forces with a group working out of downtown Dayton to collect and deliver needed supplies to neighborhoods, hotels, and individuals. They have now delivered well over 50 vanloads of supplies and provided hundreds of hot meals to those in need.

How You Can Help

Even though it has been more than a week since the tornadoes struck the Dayton area, many people are still in need of support. Here are just a few ways that you can help in these devastated communities:

  • Stay away from the streets ripped apart during the storms. These streets are marked disaster areas, not tourist destinations.
  • Donate supplies to groups that are providing relief for those in need. Some of the most requested items are baby supplies, boxes, bags, gas cards, laundry detergent, and hygiene items.
  • Volunteer to deliver supplies from the collection areas. Many people had their vehicles destroyed in the severe weather, and cannot reach these areas to get the food and supplies they need.
