Our next local hero to be the recipient of a new, free HVAC system is…
Salli Jones from Fairborn!
Salli is a Police Officer in Dayton, where she has served her community for many years. We were made aware of an opportunity to help Officer Jones with her old, failing furnace, as well as an inoperable air conditioner, when a number of her friends nominated her for our Local Heroes HVAC Giveaway.
One of her closest friends told us, “I can’t tell you enough about my friend, Salli. She has been a Dayton Metro Police Officer for at least 5 years. She loves her job for the help she can offer the population of Dayton. Salli is always volunteering to help many nonprofits organizations. She once shaved her head to raise over $4,000 for St. Baldricks, a Children’s Cancer Organization. Last year, she created a group event of like-minded women, and we sewed mittens for anybody Officer Jones would come across while on duty. I could go on and on with how much Salli is worthy for a new HVAC/furnace unit for her home she shares with her daughter in Fairborn.”
This nomination certainly got our attention, but Salli’s praises and the work that she selflessly does for the community don’t end there. Another nomination came in shortly after that read:
“My friend Salli has the kindest and most giving heart of anyone you will meet. She is a ‘getter done’ kind of girl. She knows the needs of people and how to help, so she is great at getting others involved in helping. She lives in Fairborn and is the mother of a wonderful little girl. She has said her furnace needs to be replaced, but she is hoping that it will hold out until next year. She really deserves this and so much more. We know 2020 has been a tough year, but it’s been extra tough for her. Her department lost an officer this time last year, then shooting in the Oregon District. She works a lot with the mentally ill, and it’s a tough job.“
If that wasn’t enough, another close friend shared with us Salli is “a vital asset to our community. She puts anyone and everyone before herself and sets a fabulous example of what a community leader should be. She is a group leader for our local running group and has organized events to promote safety, helped families in need, and raised funds for others in need.”
We thank Salli for her contributions and service, both as a police officer and as an extraordinary member of our community. Her selfless actions have touched the lives of many, and we are honored to have the opportunity to give back to someone who has given so much of their time, talent, and efforts for the greater good.
The Logan Services team reached out to Officer Jones to inform her about being selected as our next winner, and she shared with us just how badly this project was needed in her home. We learned that her furnace and air conditioner were 25+ years old; the heating system was unreliable and long overdue for replacement. The air conditioner had been inoperable since she moved into the home 8 years ago. If we weren’t already convinced, at this point, we knew that we had found one deserving winner!
Last week, our team was able to help Officer Salli and her daughter find comfort in their home with a brand new Trane HVAC system! We caught up with Salli after the installation of the new system, and she had this to say about her experience:
“This was a marvelous experience, I can already tell a big difference with the new system; it’s putting out heat so much better than the old furnace! The Installers, Mikie and Devon, were prompt and professional. They had a new furnace, thermostat, and A/C unit installed quite quickly. They were friendly and walked me through everything after the setup was complete, and they helped answer all of my questions. I really appreciate everything that the team at Logan Services has done!”
Salli also mentioned that she was really excited to turn the new air conditioner on in the summer; she and her daughter have been attempting to keep comfortable using window air conditioners since they first moved in.
Congratulations to you again, Officer Jones! We hope that you and your daughter enjoy total home comfort for many years to come!
