Buying Or Selling? How To Transfer Your Warranty

If buying or selling a home is in your near future, you might be interested to know that your Trane warranty could be eligible to be transferred to the new homeowner.

As a seller, this could be an attractive feature for someone who is looking to move into your home. As a buyer, you’ll want to make sure you ask about the status of the warranty, otherwise you could be missing out on many years of coverage.

Here are a few questions you’ll want to ask to see if you can transfer the warranty…

  1. How Do I Know If My Equipment Eligible?
    Your Trane system could be eligible for a warranty transfer if it was installed after August 1st, 2011. If installed after this date, you can refer to the warranty paperwork that came with your system to determine the length of that remaining warranty.
  2. When Should The Transfer Take Place?
    The warranty transfer must happen within 90 days of the closing date. If it does not take place during this timeframe, your warranty will not be transferrable.
  3. Who Do I Contact To Complete The Transfer?
    Please reach out to the Trane Limited Waranty Customer Service line at 855-260-2975 for help on transferring your Trane equipment warranty. The warranty transfer will need to be purchased for a small fee of $99.
